Photographer Steve Bloom

Three years ago I went to Norway together with my parents. On our visit to Stavanger, one of the largest cities in the southern part on Norway, we unexpectedly ran into an exhibition of photographer Steve Bloom.
In the center of Stavanger an outside exhibition was situated. More than 100 huge wildlife photos were shown. The exhibition is known as Spirit of the Wild, and has been shown in 9 other cities as well.

Steve Bloom was born in South Africa, but now lives in England. He’s a nature lover, and wants to raise awareness for the world around us by showing his photos.

My parents and I were stunned by the beauty of the photos, and we bought two of the most beautiful photos in poster form on our visit. They both had a place in our living room, until today. After three years, my mother ordered two new posters to replace the old ones. This afternoon I found them on the doormat, and I want to share them with you!

We also own a book with most of the photos from the Spirit of the Wild exhibition. The photos are so beautiful! I enjoy every time I look at them. (:
This are 2 more photos that we have in poster form;

And just some more, because they're wonderful to look at:

You should definitely take a look at his website http://www.stevebloomphoto.com/ and http://www.stevebloomshop.com/ to order.

Meringues Recipe

My grandmother used to make these meringues everytime we visited, and ever since I wondered how she made them. My father used to work in the bakery of my grandparents, so when I asked him he knew exactly how to make them! It's not difficult at all and it only took me a few minutes this morning. And Oh, they're SO delicious!

Ingredients for 13 meringues

4 egg whites

pinch of salt

250 g sugar (castersugar works best!)

whipped cream if you like  (;

1. Preheat the oven to 120 °C (248 °F)
2. Whip the egg whites until they're foamy and you can hold the bowl upside down without the foam falling down. Make sure the material you use is extremely clean, otherwise the egg whites don't foam as much as you wish.
3. Continue the whipping while slowly adding the sugar.
4. When the mixture is glossy and stiff transfer it into a pastry bag. Use a star tip (see picture) to pipe the meringues on a piece of baking sheet.
5. Bake the meringues either 45 minutes if you want a crunchy outside and soft inside. So delicious!  Or bake for 1 ½ hour if you want the maringues to be crunchy all the way!

TIP - Put whipped cream in between to maringues after baking if you like!

Good luck!

Pencil Portraits

'What she loves is what she shares' right? Well, I really love these drawings! Some are so detailed and so beautiful that they can't possibly be drawn with pencil, but they are. (; Aren't the blue eyes and the freckles of this first woman just perfect?

Holiday!

- Just a perfect song -

Holiday! (:

Finally, one week freedom. No school, no obligation! I'm not going on vacation, so this week is perfect  to do the things I can never find the time for. This are the main things I'm planning to do this week:

Visit Antwerpen this Wednesday, and spend all my money there. My sister gave this trip as a birthday present to me last month, how cool is that!

Party in Utrecht on Queens night tomorrow. After a lot of negotiating with my parents I'm aloud to come home late. Yes!

Spend Queensday in Amsterdam, more partytime!

Watch loads of series and films

Play piano and make music more than ever. I've played way too little the last few weeks.

Read and look at the beautiful pictures in the 2nd Dutch Vogue which I bought the day of release, hihi. It's so wonderful to let my imagination go wild with this magazine!

Blog! (: - Read&Write

Meet up with friends

Run! I haven't been very active for the past few weeks. I blaim the rain! (; In two months I have to run 5 km for school, and I want to have a monsterscore! (:

What are your holiday plans?

Thursday Tumblr Top Ten

Do you remember the most boring day of your whole life up to now? Well, I've just had mine. My school decided that it was fun and educational to participate on a model of the United Nations, since we follow the bilingual course. I had to represent a country I'd never heard of before, and we discussed the most boring topic. Blegh. Luckily I did have a lot of fun with some friends, and the holiday is close!

Tumblr is a great place to spend time when you don't really have anything else to do. I decided that every Thursday I share with you my 10 favourite photos I found the past week. You like?

Sit back and relax!

The first week

For weeks, days, months and even years I dreamed about having my very own blog. I've often started one, but they never lasted longer than a few days. I don't really know why, but it just never worked out well. This time however it's different! This time it does work out!

Yesterday morning I found the best tweet in the world:

You should definitely check out http://theselfhelphipster.com/, her blog is so interesting!
I was so excited about the tweet! I ran a few laps through the house, jumped up and down for a bit and after that I refreshed the internet-page to check If I wasn't just dreaming. I know it must sound really silly right now, but this little tweet made my day.

I love the writing, photography and everything else I've done so far for this blog. It's my therapy, and sharing it wonderful. But when you find out that there are people out there, people who've never heard of you, who take the time to see what I've created and actually appreciate it, that's the best feeling in the world.

After this first week of blogging I'm 22 followers, 400 pageviews, 25 comments and 63 likes richer. It might sound like nothing to you, but I'm so happy about it hihi!

Goodnight!

Norway Photography - Part 2

Tuesday Travel Journal! As promised, the sequal to Norway Photography - Part 1 ! I took these photos on our trip to Norway last summer. The weather wasn't perfect, actually it was really bad.  But still the holiday was so amazing! Don't pictures 3, 5 and 6 give you a adrenaline boost straight away? (: The best thing is that fences, or anything like it, seem not  to be invented yet in Norway.  This makes it possible to stand and take photos on the most extreme peaks!

Enjoy the pictures, and feel free to comment. (:

Cute boathouses

Looking down to the Geirangerfjord

After walking up a mountain of 1728 meters high, this was our view. As you can see a storm was coming, so we hurried down after taking this picture haha!

Geirangerfjord, wauw!

The kjeragbolten (this 5 m³ stone is stuck 1000 m above sea)- This was such an amazing experience, but I was so scared up there! With nice weather it would look like this. (;
