the Rule of Thirds - Photography tip

Composition is key to any great photo. An often used guideline for composition is the Rule of Thirds. It's easy, and makes a photo more interesting to look at.

the Amsterdam photographs

Besides the amazing surprise party my friends threw me in March, they also gave me a professional photo-course! They picked travel photography as subject, couldn't be more perfect! For one whole day my 9 fellow students and I walked through the beautiful Amsterdam, while a professional photographer instructed us and gave tips as much as possible. We were forced to look for things true tourists would look for. It was weird playing the tourist in a city I know so well!

It's amazing how much I've learned in just these few hours! Here are some of the (404 to be exact!) pics I shoot that day, enjoy!

I spend the afternoon on creating this photo, since rain is pouring down outside. What do you think of this photo?

the Manipulator - Erik Johansson

I’m a photographer and retouch artist from Sweden. I use photography as a way of collecting material to realize the ideas in my mind. I don’t capture moments, I capture ideas.

Erik Johansson is a Swedish photographer, who expresses his ideas by his unique manipulations. After finishing his study he moved to the artistic city Berlin. His work is so unrealistic, but extremely realistic at the same time. Inspiring, and worth sharing!

I get inspiration from all things around me. Anything from things I see in my daily life to other artist’s work and photography. I think it’s a lot about looking at the world from a different perspective.

Weekend? Finally, yes! I took these photos on the very first sunny day of the year some time ago. Although spring hasn't really started yet, these photos remind me of how beautiful the world is in summer!

BTW, I just set a date for the photo-course my friends gave me on my birthday, I can't wait!

Enjoy the weekend, It will be awesome!

the Postcrossing - I

I can't believe I have never posted anything about postcrossing yet!
"Send a postcard and receive a postcard back from a random person in the world!"

Amazing idea right? The best part of this project is that you receive postcards from literally all over the world. Especially when the mailer tells me a little about the place on the postcard, it inspires me to actually go there once. (Even places like Ukraine, I know! (; ) Moreover, every time I find a postcard on the mat I get this happy feeling inside of me. Just the idea that someone took the time to actually write a small message for you on a beautiful piece of paper, snail mail is the best!

I always go c-r-a-z-y in creating envelopes and cute packages. These are a few of my creative outbursts:

This letter is for someone I've been mailing with for a while now, a true pen-pal!

Have you ever heard of Postcrossing? Don´t you just love snailmail?
